Call To Worship

 One: God’s love is divine it is a love the excels all joy

All It is a love that binds us to each other as one people of God

One We gather as that voice united to sing praises of thanksgiving

All: together we shall gather in this time come and sing of that wondrous love. 

Offering

We give thee but thy own.   The work of the Church continues and there are three ways you can continue to support that work.   Consider using PAR, use the donate button on our Web Site or drop your gift at the Manse.   Let us make our offering and give thanks.       

  One: Praise God who from all Blessing flow

   Prayer      Blessed God for all times you have been the God who has given to us. Here in this time we bring you our gifts and offer the to you for the continued work of your Church in all places and times. Amen.                                         

  One: And Jesus said. “That they all shall be one, just as you, my Father, are in me, and I am in you, so that they also shall be one in us. “   We gather now united as one community of faith in the presence of the Saints of Freelton United Church and Strabane United, and the symbols of the faith the, Cross, and the Word to claim our calling and commitment to be the presence of Christ for all whom we may encounter. 

All: This is truly the Lord’s work, and we shall rejoice in the work of the Lord. 

The Commitment

All: Since then we have such hope we act with great boldness, called by God to be the Church of Freelton Strabane, To live our discipleship with integrity and grace. 

One: I ask you the members of our new  congregation of Freelton Strabane United Church do you commit yourself to take forward the vision of a vibrant faith community from the past into the future. 

All: We will God being our Helper

One: Will you make it your mission to provide a safe place of worship for all who call this their spiritual home. 

All : We will God being our helper

One: Will you make it your mission to greet people where they are in their spiritual journey and promote spiritual growth.

All : We will God being our helper

One: Do you commit yourself to be a place where people will find support and recharge their faith.

All: We do God being our helper

One: Do you commit yourself as a Community of Faith to extend hospitality and sincere welcome to all into your family of faith

All: We do God being our helper

One: Do you commit to being open to being a venue where local groups can meet in community

All: We will God being our guide. 

One: Do you acknowledge that you are called by God, as disciples of Jesus, to reach beyond your own faith community to seek right relations and to be supportive to the wider community and the world.

All: We open our hearts to God, through Christ, in the presence of Holy Spirit, and commit to, in all of this,  go forward in faith knowing that we are not alone, but one with Christ.

One: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and Holy Spirit by the Action of the Holy Spirit through the Horseshoe Falls Regional Council of the United Church of Canada, I declare that you are a Faith Community known as Freelton Strabane United Church Pastoral Charge within the United Church of Canada   May God Bless this community of faith and the memory of the ancestors of have come before you. 

New Creed  

We are not alone,
   we live in God’s world.

 We believe in God:
   who has created and is creating,
   who has come in Jesus,
    the Word made flesh,
    to reconcile and make new,
   who works in us and others
    by the Spirit.

We trust in God. 

We are called to be the Church:
   to celebrate God’s presence,
   to live with respect in Creation,
   to love and serve others,
   to seek justice and resist evil,
   to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
    our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
   God is with us.
We are not alone.

   Thanks be to God.

Prayer. 

One:  O God, continue to walk with this congregation as they begin their journey as a new Community of Faith. Give them the courage and strength to live out their Vision and Mission Statements.   May this always be a place of welcome, of openness and support. Sanctify them with the presence of your Holy Spirit. Inspire them through Christ’s words and the wisdom of the Gospel and sacred text.  May you in your love bless them and keep them.  Amen

Covenanting Officers of the Church

One: I ask you the Officers and Members of Committees Freelton Strabane United Church guided by the Holy Spirit, do you commit yourselves to work towards the living out of the Vision and Mission statement of Freelton Strabane United Church.

All: We Will God being our Guide and Helper

One: Do you commit to up holding the Constitution of the Freelton Strabane United Church and the Governance of the United Church of Canada as laid out in the Manual and the governance of the Horseshow Falls Regional Council. 

All: We Will God being our Guide and Helper  

One: There for in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, I declare you the Officers and committee members of the Freelton Strabane United Church Pastoral Charge  duly installed for the ensuing year.

Prayer

One: O Lord God the founder and Keeper of the Church, bless these people who you that you have called to be leaders of this church to do your work with in this community of Faith. Grant them sincerity, singleness of mind, and humility as they accept the responsibilities laid upon them.  Guide them in this work for your Church we ask in the name of Christ Jesus Head of the Church Amen. 

 Communion

One: The Lord be with you

All: And also with you

One: Lift up your hearts

All: We lift them up to the Lord

One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God

All: It is right to give our thanks and praise. 

One: In the infancy of time when for you a minute was millennium in creation, when you poured your infinite energy into the very foundations of the earth all things came into being. All of creation was a reflection of your love and we were one with you.  Yet we became distracted, and we forgot to see you in all that surrounds us.  Still in your patient love you sent us the prophets and the saints. 

All :With them we sing to you in praise and thanks giving

One : Despite the words of wisdom from the saints and prophets Even today we become distracted and in our hurriedness we forget and fail to see you in all that surrounds us.  Once more You call us to gather around a sacred meal which reminds us of your presence.  At that meal Jesus, took the bread and the wine, broke the bread and poured the wine, which becomes symbols of the gift of love and sacrifice that you had him make for us so that we may know the wholeness of your love forgiveness and eternal life.

Calm us In The flight of our day to feel your creative energy which opened a tomb and losses the grave clothes. That raised Jesus, and has brought us once more into being one with you. 

All: In the glory of the risen Christ may we proclaim the mystery of the faith

Christ has died  Christ has Risen Christ will come again.

Here in this minute a moment in the millennium of your presence in creation send your Holy Spirit on these gifts these symbols of your love given to us through your son. 

With all of your Easter people with all the host of heaven we sing

All In gratitude, in deep gratitude, for this moment this meal these people we give ourselves to you and give thanks that we have found love and forgiveness once more at the table
