Gathering   Blessed is the one who comes in the Name of Lord. 

Call to Worship

 One Assemble with songs on your lips and expectation in your hearts.

All be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth

One give thanks to God among all the people praise god among all the nations.

All god’s steadfast love and faithfulness lift us up and save us. 

Or the quintessential camp fire 60s song. One Tin Soldier (Canadian I might add  done by Original Castle covered by everyone) I can’t begin to count the amount of times I sang this when I worked in UCC Camping in my young years.

Is the story of a rumoured treasure held by the mountain people and how the valley people decided they must have it.  The mountain people say we will share, the valley folk not enough and so they invaded killed and found that the treasure was a philosophy of life   turning the stone it simply said. Peace on earth,

 As the chorus of the song states  Do it in the name of heaven, You can justify it in the end. Far too often Christianity has been used as an excuse or argument for oppression and exclusion. So not the gospel message 

And flies in the face of Christ message of tolerance .   The teaching’s of Jesus is one of openness and tolerance.

We are called today to continue to open our hearts and minds through the spirit to those teaching to see the value in other people to see our own value. 

Consider this A bar of iron cost $5 Made into horse shoes it is worth $12

Made into needles it is worth $3500

Made into balance springs for watches $300,000

Your Value is determent by what you are able to make of yourselves. Do not short change yourself. 

We are called by God to see value in those we encounter in our lives. We are called by God to see the value of everyone who enters into our community of faith

We are called by God to be open accepting to share the treasure that is contained within these stone walls.  The treasure of the love of God, the wisdom of Christ and the fellowship of God’s spirit among us.   

 The Spirit is among us it is blown on the wind. , is rung like a bell proclaiming the faith and is lived out in our willingness to be open and accepting.  For we are not alone thanks be to God.

Prayers



God of journey, truly there are rhythms in our faith journey. We are thankful for the joyous seasons celebrating you with us.   You have travelled with us from the cradle to the cross, from the glory of the Easter event and great gift of the Spirit.  As we move into living out of our faith and we move away from the big events that we are able to still ourselves to now see your presence in our lives in the quiet moments of our lives.  May we reflect on how we are called to live our faith.  May we in our reflections, see the great value in ourselves as you have seen it in us.  We know that there are many who’s lives are such a struggle they may not know your presence. For all  who seek justice, who seek freedom, who seek security may you be with them.   We pray for those that Seek healing and wholeness of body and of mind.  We hold up all those that are in need.   We name those who are a part of our journey who are in need of your holy presence.  We pray for ourselves, and our church. We pay for wisdom and wholeness.  Lord hear our prayers and calm our hearts to know your presence here. We offer these prayers and the prayers of our hearts here in the sanctuary of your love.  We offer you the great prayer which you gave us through your Son, Jesus the Christ. Saying  our Father….
